Volunteer Agreement

Thank you for joining the Voices of the Top End (VoTE). Our goal is to:

  • create opportunities for community participation in democracy

  • encourage a diversity of views and engagement in the democratic process

  • foster respectful and constructive representation of our electorate’s voices

  • ensure our electorate’s voices are heard and represented in local, Territory and Federal governments

  • connect with organisations that have compatible objectives, and

  • maintain independence from all political parties.

This Volunteer Agreement outlines our mutual commitment and the standard of behaviour we expect as we work together to engage our community, consistently demonstrating our VoTE values as outlined on our VoTE website https://www.voicesofthetopend.com/our_values . 

Agreement

We agree that all duties are on a voluntary basis, you will not receive remuneration or payment for this work.

We endeavour to provide a safe, informative and inclusive environment.  We will maintain privacy and keep information regarding your volunteer involvement confidential upon request.

Please note volunteers undertake their volunteer activities at their own risk.

We all live incredibly busy lives and the VoTE Committee members and community action activity leaders understand that last minute illness, burnout or family responsibilities may mean you are unable to complete tasks you have previously agreed to.  We ask that you let the nominated activity leader know as soon as possible so they can take any necessary action.

VoTE’s objectives are grounded in positivity, inclusivity and respect. By signing this agreement you commit to be, when representing VoTE, your best self and be positive, polite and respectful at all times.

Reimbursement - Volunteers will be reimbursed for reasonable out of pocket expenses but only with explicit prior approval of the VoTE Committee.

Confidentiality - In your role, you may be given access to confidential Information, such as the personal information of other volunteers and community members, and information about strategy and workplans. You agree not to use or disclose such information for any purpose other than the proper discharge of your duties as a volunteer for VoTE or as required by law. This includes not speaking with the media or posting on social media, where it may be perceived as being representative of the VoTE organisation, without prior authorisation from the VoTE Committee.

Photo Consent - If you and /or your children pose for a photo or video while carrying out your volunteer activities, you give us permission to use it for marketing and for promoting VoTE. This may include the use of your image in printed and digital marketing and on social media platforms.
