A conversation between locals about things that matter

Kitchen Table Conversations are a model of civic engagement built on open and honest dialogue. They create a safe, inclusive space where people can share what matters most, listen deeply, recognise the wisdom in others and build understanding across different perspectives.

How does a KTC work?

  • KTC's are small, respectful, facilitated conversations between 4-8 people, hosted at someone’s home or in a comfortable public place.
  • They are a forum for listening, not for changing the opinions of others, participants should feel included, valued and respected.
  • Participants are asked what matters most to them, and for ideas about what could be done to help solve these issues.
  • After sharing openly with others, most people leave a 90 minute KTC feeling uplifted and motivated by their shared love of this place and community.
  •  Responses will be collated anonymously in a report and with shared our political representatives and candidates in upcoming elections. You can read a copy of our 2024 Community Listening Report here.

Why join a Kitchen Table Conversation?

At a time when respectful dialogue and community connection matter more than ever, we encourage you to join or host a KTC. Every conversation is an opportunity to strengthen our connections and put our shared values into practice. It's also important that our political representatives hear what matters to us and what we expect from them as our representatives. That’s when democracy works best.

Will you come?
